What Happens in a Session?
We may begin with silence, taking time to rest in God’s love, while welcoming the presence of the Holy Spirit through prayer. This is your time to share your story and experiences and to express your concerns or desires for spiritual growth and a deeper relationship with God.As a co-listener with you, I will ask questions that serve to engage your heart to notice how God is present in the midst of your life’s real circumstances. The emphasis is on openness, honesty, awareness, and affirmation of God’s mysterious presence in our ordinary lives. The presence, action and guidance of the Holy Spirit, as the True Spiritual Director, is what is most deeply sought in each session. There is time for silence, time to wait, to listen, and to respond to God’s invitations. There is space to just be, and to be known. In response to our time together, there may be a key scripture to take home and ponder, a new insight, or a spiritual discipline to practice between sessions.
About
I was introduced to spiritual direction in 2017, and God has been using it in my life since then. I’ve had a relationship with God my whole life, and I’ve been a part of different church denominations within the protestant church.I have lived most of my life in Memphis, TN, but my husband and I lived in Ukraine as missionaries between 2017-2020. I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. It is a gift for me to journey with people as they grow in their relationship with God.I enjoy worshiping and connecting with God through singing with others, contemplative practices, and being in nature.I spend most of my time with my family, which includes my 3 and 6 year old. In my free time I enjoy doing art or meeting a friend at a coffee shop.
